Empty House – Friday Fictioneers

It’s time to write another piece for Friday Fictioneers!  Thank you to Rochelle Wisoff-Fields who hosts this venture.  Each week Rochelle chooses a photo prompt to inspire writers to produce a 100 word piece of flash fiction.  Do use the link to her blog if you are interested in joining the group.  It’s a great way to get involved in writing!

Empty House

He made his way to the bleak and windswept hilltop.  The crumbling wooden steps groaned with each footstep and the desolate trees sighed their despair.

Monico came to a halt at the house that sat darkly under the brooding sky.  He knocked at the door and shouted out, “I am here.”  His words were swept away by the wind.

Silent shadows moved through the mouldering walls that held secrets hidden from sight. But no voice answered him.

The hours crept slowly by as he sat, waiting.  “Soon, soooon,” the night owl called as it flew by.  Then silence fell again.
