A bitter taste – Friday Fictioneers

Thank you to Rochelle Wisoff-Fields who hosts Friday Fictioneers.  Each week Rochelle chooses a photo prompt to inspire writers to produce a 100 word piece of flash fiction.  Do use the link to her blog if you are interested in joining the group.  It’s a great way to get involved in writing.

A bitter taste

I turn from the window.  There is nothing outside to catch my attention

The food on the table holds no interest for me.  I can’t bear to think of lifting the glass of wine to my lips.

I clutch the chair, frustrated by my inability to pick up the pieces and move on.  I wonder if I will ever learn to tell the difference between reality and make-believe,  truth and lies.

Perhaps the day may come when I will find that I can live a better life without you.  At this moment, though, that day seems so very far away.
