Enough – Friday Fictioneers

Thank you to Rochelle Wisoff-Fields who hosts Friday Fictioneers.  Each week Rochelle chooses a photo prompt to inspire writers to produce a 100 word piece of flash fiction.  Do use the link to her blog if you are interested in joining the group.  It’s a great way to get involved in writing.

The cold wind whispered around them, nudging them as they walked.

“I think it’s trying to tell us something,” she said.

Her companion nodded.  “That may be so.”

The clouds gathered around the setting sun to accompany it on its final journey.  The trees bowed to acknowledge its departure.  The earth trembled under their feet, shaking with indignation at long years of misuse.

The couple looked at each other.  Their instincts told them what their hearts feared to admit.  The elements had combined to condemn man’s ingratitude.

The rain slipped down their faces like tears.  Darkness covered the whole world.

  1. You created a beautiful world. I loved “The clouds gathered around the setting sun to accompany it on its final journey.” I loved how you created such a deep story about something as trivial as rain.

    1. Thank you for your appreciative response. It’s so sad to look at what’s happening to our world and to feel so powerless to do anything about it. Perhaps writing can make a difference..
