One man’s meat – Friday Fictioneers

Friday Fictioneers is a weekly group hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields who chooses a photo prompt to inspire writers to produce a 100 word piece of flash fiction.  Do use the link to her blog if you are interested in joining the group.  It’s a great way to get involved in writing.

One man’s meat

The driver let out a string of curses and spat out of the window.

“We won’t be moving for a while,” he grunted.  “It’s the same every week with these goddamned sheep.  And where’s the shepherd?  I’ll tell you where he is.  He’s drinking himself senseless under a tree somewhere.  Lazy bastard.  I’d like to get my hands on him …”

Larry looked at me and slid his belt from round his waist.  I felt deep in my pocket for the knife.

“Thanks for the lift, mister.  We’ll get out here.”

My stomach growled in anticipation.  Tonight, we would eat.
