Sanctuary – Friday Fictioneers

Friday Fictioneers is a weekly group hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields who chooses a photo prompt to inspire writers to produce a 100 word piece of flash fiction.  Do use the link to her blog if you are interested in joining the group.  It’s a great way to get involved in writing.

He stared out of the window listening impatiently to their explanations.  They had arrived the previous evening.  She had left early in the morning, without a word.  He waved aside their apologies and continued to look at the landscape spread out in front of him.  Where could she be?

He thought about their time together and their parting.  At his request she had left the lights of the city behind.  She would never choose to be reunited with him here.  There was only one other possibility. He turned. “Thanks.  You kept her safe.  She’s waiting for me.  I must go.”

Please note. This story is linked to one of my previous pieces of writing for Friday Fictioneers.  If Sanctuary caught your interest, do have a look at There are no easy answers.
